Presentation of the spa

Zalakaros is located in the south-western part of Hungary, on the edge of the Zala chain of hills. It is situated in the vicinity of the main road No. 7 and can be easily accessed by car or regular bus lines on public roads. It can be reached by train by the lines Budapest-Nagykanizsa, Sopron-Nagykanizsa and Pécs-Nagykanizsa, the nearest airport is in Sármellék in the distance of 15 kilometres. The special atmosphere of the town is determined by the huge and well-maintained parks, fresh air, silence and quietness. In this town everything is for the physical and spiritual refreshment of the visitors. The international fame of the almost 800-year old settlement is provided by its spa built on its thermal water; qualified thermal water can only be found in Gránit Spa in Zalakaros. The Zalakaros thermal water is unique in Europe with its sodium chloride and hydrogen carbonate contents. Due to its iodide and bromide ion content it can be classified as iodide-bromide, due to its sulphide ion content it can be classified as sulphuric thermal waters. The water is slightly radioactive and its meta-boricacid content is high.

The thermal water has its best effect in the treatment of chronic gynaecological, locomotor and articular diseases, as well as that of the nervous system, heart, circulatory and metabolic diseases. The spa founded is 1965 has become the 5-6th biggest spa of Hungary; water surfaces of more than 5000 m2 in summer are at disposal of the guests. The spa has been totally modernized recently. It has become the centre of wellness besides medical treatment. A good number of tired guests regain their energy in Zalakaros and then return to everyday work. In the covered spa being opened throughout the whole year sitting pools with different temperatures, a thermal bath opened from above and a sauna block can be found. The medical treatment department operated with medical supervision serves recovery with a wide range of treatments.

Among the hydrotherapeutic treatments weight bath, effervescent bath, the 4-section galvanic bath and the tangentor can be found. The wide range of services of electrotherapy - stimuli current, ultrasonographic treatment and magnetic ring - also serves recovery. In the open-air pool of the medical garden our guests can move in the morning in case of good weather with the help of a professional physiotherapist.

Besides the underwater gymnastics individual and group gymnastics can be found, as well. Our guests can be rejuvenated under the hands of our masseurs. Sole massage is also popular among our guests. Medical packs are also at the disposal of our guests. The ones liking quality bath can enjoy the rejuvenating effect of the Zalakaros water in the medical centre, in the medical sitting pool and in the jacuzzi with thermal water.

The experience bath satisfies every need of the wellness-fitness fans. Its covered hall waits our guests with an experience pool, a pool for children and a multi-purpose pool. In the experience pool with thermal water and irregular-shaped stretched surface of 360 m2 10 different water attractions assure that every guest would have a good time. The water-jet massages, jacuzzi, water mushroom and the wild-water flow are tried by many.

The multi-purpose sports pool with 400 m2 provides opportunity to you to swim in summer and winter, use water gymnastics or water fitness and feel every joy of the water sports. We thought about the children, as well in Zalakaros! A covered experience pool for children helps get acquainted with water and the undisturbed splashing about. Many small children splashes in the rushing down water of the tilting bucket, but the mini water-slide, the mini waterfall and the water mushroom are also very popular among the children. On the resting beds of the covered hall our guests can have a rest conveniently. The Finnish, aroma and light therapy saunas and the steam cabin can mean a real speciality to the ones liking saunas. The "Black Hole" water slide with its mysterious atmosphere is very popular. In the covered hall a "children's corner" equipped with toys and games and a TV-room can also be found.

Besides the services of the experience spa operated in summer and winter there are open-air pools with a water surface of almost 400 m2, which can be directly accessed from the inner room. A thermal-water experience pool can be found outdoor with different massages, water-shoots, boils, Scottish shower and jacuzzi, a children's experience pool with water hedgehog, spraying snake and mini water slide, as well as the receiving pool of the quick flowing "Kamikaze" slide, which - if the slide is closed - serves as a hydro-massage pool. The sunbathing terraces faces north and south provide pleasant rest and a nice lookout, as well. In the park of approximately 10 hectares - ornamented with trees and flowers and carefully maintained - and at the thermal spa every generation can find their joy and amusement. From the partially shadowed thermal sitting spa to the pools equipped with different sight elements the range of services is wide; from the smallest member of the family to the oldest one can find the best suitable to him or her. The children's pool and the so-called family pool provide peaceful rest and real joy to the whole family. Our guests can enjoy the excitements and joy provided by the seaside in the wave-pool. Zalakaros is a real paradise for water-slide fans, as well, since from small children to braver ones can find their enjoyment. The new slide-complex - with one "Anaconda", two "Kamikaze's" and one three-track family slides - waits everyone. Of course, the ones loving active sports can find their open-air pool. In the vicinity of the children splashing pool a playground equipped with different toys waits the smaller ones. The catering units (restaurants) operated in the area of the spa also serve the convenience of guests. Altogether the whole family can have fun, can recover and bathe in one place in the spectacular natural environment of the thermal spa.
